Bobby was the head mainframe operator for approximately two decades. (He retired in 2002.) His understanding of mainframe operations was almost supernatural. He would notice small changes in the flow of messages on the system console and investigate, often identifying and fixing problems long before they became critical. He was also effective in training the operators that worked under him.
